Melissa graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. She followed her Army officer husband around the world for several years and finally picked up enough accounting courses to sit for the CPA exam which she did in 1992. After experience at other CPA firms in Louisiana and Richardson, Melissa joined the firm in 1994.
Melissa became the accounting partner in 2001, but is involved in all areas of the practice to include client write-up services, small business consulting, tax return preparation and payroll accounting. Melissa is also a Certified Payroll Professional and a Quickbooks® Professional Advisor.
Melissa has been married to Kelly DeWitt since 1977. They have two children. Melissa is active in her church and several other community organizations. She also belongs to the Louisiana society of CPAs and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
